Who Is William Paul? Sen. Rand Paul's Son Accused Of Anti-Semitic Tirade Against Rep. Mike Lawler
William Paul, the son of Republican Senator Rand Paul, has come under scrutiny after allegedly making anti-Semitic remarks toward Republican Congressman Mike Lawler during an encounter at a Capitol Hill bar and restaurant on Tuesday evening.
According to a NOTUS reporter who witnessed the exchange, William Paul interrupted a conversation involving Lawler and began discussing Rep. Thomas Massie and his upcoming Republican primary race in Kentucky.
Paul reportedly suggested that if Massie loses, it would be because of “your people.” When Lawler asked what he meant, Paul allegedly responded: “Yeah, you Jews.”
Lawler then clarified that he is not Jewish, to which Paul replied, “Oh wow, I’m so sorry for calling you a Jew.”
The exchange reportedly escalated as Paul continued criticizing Jews and accusing Lawler and his “Jewish supporters” of prioritizing Israel over American interests. Lawler repeatedly pushed back, defended his support for Israel and accused Paul of making anti-Semitic remarks.
At one point, Paul referenced Republican megadonor Paul Singer, saying: “Paul Singer serves Israeli interests, not American interests.” Singer is helping fund an anti-Massie super PAC.
The confrontation reportedly continued with Paul telling Lawler he “needs to watch more Tucker Carlson” and claiming that Massie and Rand Paul were among the few lawmakers who truly cared about the United States.
When Lawler attempted to end the discussion, saying, “Well, you just seem to hate Jews, so there’s no point arguing anymore,” Paul reportedly pointed a finger in his face and denied making such comments.
The encounter ended with Paul apologizing for flipping off Lawler and admitting, “I’m just really drunk. I’m going to leave.” Witnesses said he knocked over his barstool and tripped while exiting the restaurant.
William Paul has previously faced legal trouble. In 2013, he was charged with assaulting a flight attendant, though the charges were later dropped. In 2015, he pleaded guilty to driving under the influence after a car crash.
He previously worked for the conservative organization FreedomWorks and also worked for several members of Congress until last summer, according to Legistorm.
