A young woman has accused a Catholic priest of allegedly demanding sexual favours in exchange for providing her with a place to sleep after she was forced out of her uncle’s residence.

The woman made the allegation during an appearance on the Outside the Box Podcast, where she recounted what she described as a traumatic experience that occurred while she was searching for a safe place to spend the night.

According to her, she had been left without accommodation after being asked to leave her uncle’s home. With no immediate alternative, she said she went to a well-known Catholic church in Lagos, believing the church would offer her temporary shelter.

She alleged that after explaining her situation to a priest, she was told she could only be allowed to stay if she agreed to have sex with him.

The woman claimed she immediately rejected the alleged proposition and decided to leave the church premises rather than accept the condition she said had been placed before her. She added that she eventually found somewhere else to spend the night.

Reflecting on the incident, the woman said the experience deeply affected her perception of religious institutions and significantly weakened her trust in the church.

According to her, the alleged encounter remains one of the major reasons she no longer attends church services, as she found it difficult to reconcile the behaviour she claimed to have experienced with the moral and spiritual responsibilities expected of a priest.
