Rapper and podcast host Joe Budden has taken his relationship with longtime girlfriend Shadée Monique to the next level after proposing to her in a surprise engagement moment.
Budden popped the question during a private celebration captured in an Instagram Reel shared by hip-hop journalist Elliott Wilson, where the former rapper could be heard asking, “We’re doing it or what?” before getting down on one knee.
The proposal comes after the couple spent seven years together, having started their relationship in 2019. The pair gradually became more public with their romance, later sharing parts of their relationship through their joint podcast, Pod Wives, where marriage discussions had previously featured.
Shadée Monique, a Houston-based entrepreneur, is the founder of clothing boutique Bawdy Essentials and has also become familiar to fans through appearances connected to Budden’s podcast platforms.
The engagement celebration reportedly carried an even bigger surprise, as Monique revealed that the couple is expecting their first child together, with Budden set to become a father to a baby girl.
Budden, who will turn 46, has previously spoken publicly about relationships and fatherhood. He already has two sons from previous relationships, making the upcoming arrival his first child with Monique.
The proposal marks a new chapter for the podcast personality, who moved from his early career as a rapper into becoming one of hip-hop’s most recognised independent media voices through The Joe Budden Podcast
