‘We Are No Longer Safe on Our Roads’ — Emeka Ike Urges Government to End Rising Insecurity

Veteran Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has called on the Federal Government and security agencies to strengthen efforts aimed at addressing the growing insecurity across Nigeria, warning that the situation is increasingly affecting the daily lives of citizens.

The actor made the appeal while speaking to security operatives, expressing concern over the worsening security challenges that have made road travel unsafe for many Nigerians.

Emeka Ike revealed that he has always enjoyed travelling by road because it allows him to experience different parts of the country and connect with people. However, he lamented that the rising incidents of kidnappings, banditry, and violent attacks have robbed him and many others of that freedom.

“I love road travel, but today I am denied of my best form of travel. So many Nigerians love to have it on the road, but we are no more safe,” he said.

The actor urged authorities not to allow the security situation to deteriorate further, stressing that countless families across the country are already living in fear due to persistent attacks by criminal elements.

According to him, while some individuals may not have been directly affected by insecurity, many Nigerians have suffered tragic losses and continue to face threats to their lives and livelihoods.

Emeka Ike further called for decisive action against bandits, kidnappers, and other criminal groups terrorising communities across the nation. He warned that insecurity poses a serious threat not only to the safety of citizens but also to the country’s economic growth and future stability.

“Let’s stop this killing. Let’s stop bandits from taking over our country. If our country is taken, where will all of us work?” he asked.

The actor’s remarks come amid ongoing concerns over security challenges in several parts of Nigeria, where cases of kidnapping, armed attacks, and violent crimes have continued to generate public anxiety.

Many Nigerians have repeatedly called on the government to adopt stronger measures to restore confidence in the nation’s security architecture and ensure that citizens can travel, live, and conduct their daily activities without fear.
