US to Pull 5,000 Troops from Germany After Strategic Review
While the withdrawal of 5,000 US troops from Germany has drawn attention, analysts say Europe faces far more serious challenges from the rapidly deteriorating trans-Atlantic relationship under President Trump. German officials downplayed the troop reduction as largely symbolic. However, experts warn that other developments — including higher US tariffs on European cars, the cancellation of long-range missile deployments in Germany, and the economic and military fallout from the Iran war — pose much greater risks to Europe’s security and economy.
