Tinubu Didn’t Make Buhari President, I Fought All The Battles” — Amaechi
Former Minister of Transportation and presidential aspirant of the African Democratic Congress, Rotimi Amaechi, has dismissed claims that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was solely responsible for the emergence of former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.
Amaechi stated that while he served as a minister under Buhari’s administration, he was unable to publicly challenge Tinubu’s repeated assertions that he “made Buhari president” because speaking out at the time could have cost him his position in government.
The former Rivers State governor, however, has now openly disputed the narrative, insisting that he played the major role in the political battles that led to Buhari’s victory.
According to Amaechi, Tinubu did not single-handedly secure Buhari’s emergence, stressing that he personally carried out much of the political groundwork and struggles that paved the way for the former president’s success at the polls.
The remarks are expected to stir fresh debate within Nigeria’s political space, especially among loyalists of both Amaechi and Tinubu, as conversations around the 2027 presidential race continue to intensify.
