Tinubu Congratulates Oyebanji on Ekiti Victory, Urges Him to Unite Residents
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji following his victory in the Saturday governorship election.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised Ekiti residents for their peaceful conduct during the election and for renewing their confidence in the governor.
Tinubu also commended security agencies for maintaining peace and ensuring a smooth electoral process throughout the exercise.
The President urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to continue improving its processes and focus on delivering peaceful, transparent, and credible elections ahead of the forthcoming Osun governorship election and the 2027 general elections.
While reacting to Oyebanji’s victory, Tinubu highlighted what he described as achievements recorded during the governor’s first term under the BAO agenda.
He listed areas such as infrastructure development, agriculture, youth empowerment, education, healthcare, and rural development as sectors where the administration had made progress.
According to Tinubu, the renewed mandate given to Oyebanji represents a vote of confidence from Ekiti people in continuity, stability, and people-focused leadership.
The President, however, advised the governor to be humble in victory and ensure that all citizens of the state are carried along regardless of political differences.
He also called on other contestants in the election to support the administration in advancing the development of Ekiti State.
Tinubu reaffirmed the Federal Government’s readiness to work with the Ekiti State Government to provide more benefits and opportunities for residents.
The congratulatory message comes after Oyebanji was declared winner of the Ekiti governorship election, securing another term in office.
