Three Robbery Suspects K!lled In Police Shootout At Tilly Forest, Upper East Region

Three suspects linked to a string of armed robberies have been shot dead during a police operation in the Upper East Region, after a follow-up exercise led officers into a gun battle at Tilly Forest.

According to police, the suspects had agreed to lead investigators to a location where weapons connected to their operations were allegedly hidden but as the team moved in, they came under gunfire, sparking an exchange that left two police officers injured before the three suspects were fatally shot.

Items recovered from the scene paint a picture of a well-equipped criminal outfit, two pump-action guns, a pistol loaded with ammunition, a machete, a homemade knife, six mobile phones, combat boots, and a vehicle number plate bearing the registration M-25-UE 3516 GH.

Police say the trio has been linked to a wave of robberies targeting motorbike riders and mobile money vendors across the region, attacks that have left many operators in the area on edge in recent months.

Investigators also tied the group to the killing of a police officer at Zebilla back in February 2026, a case that had remained unresolved until this latest operation.

The two injured officers have been rushed to hospital for treatment, with authorities yet to disclose the extent of their injuries.

Police say further investigations are ongoing to establish whether the suspects had accomplices still at large.
