The Real Victory Against Corruption Comes When Influential Fingers Are Convicted And Jailed -Amadi

In a recent interview shared by the official YouTube channel of Arise TV on Saturday, July 18, 2026, Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Sam Amadi, emphasized that the fight against corruption should ultimately be judged by the ability of the justice system to hold powerful individuals accountable for their actions.

Speaking during a discussion on the country’s anti-corruption efforts, Amadi said, “The real victory against corruption comes when influential figures are convicted and jailed.” He argued that while the recovery of stolen assets is an important step, it does not fully achieve the objectives of criminal justice if those responsible for corrupt practices are not successfully prosecuted and punished.

According to him, convictions send a stronger message to public office holders than asset forfeitures alone because they demonstrate that no individual is above the law. He explained that meaningful accountability is achieved when investigations lead to successful prosecutions and appropriate penalties for those found guilty.

Amadi further noted that an effective anti-corruption campaign requires strong institutions capable of conducting thorough investigations, presenting credible evidence in court, and securing lawful convictions.
