The Case Involving Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew Is A Matter Of National Interest -DSP Olayinka
According to a report by Vanguard on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the Oyo State Police Command has clarified that it is not handling the investigation involving Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, following reports of the arrest of his father and a family friend in Ogbomoso.
Speaking on the matter, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, explained that the investigation falls under the authority of the Force Criminal Investigation Department in Abuja. He said, “The case involving Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew is a matter of national interest and is currently under investigation by the Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID, Force Headquarters, Abuja.”
He added that because the matter is being handled at the national level, the Oyo State Police Command is not in a position to provide official updates or comments on the reported arrests or any other developments connected to the case.
The clarification comes amid rapid growing public attention surrounding the alleged Presidential Fiscal and Infrastructure Projects Council scandal, which has generated legal and political debates after the Presidency disowned the organisation while criminal proceedings against Adeyemi continue before the court.
Human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) has also criticised the reported arrest of Adeyemi’s father, arguing that relatives should not be detained in place of suspects and insisting that the matter should be handled strictly in accordance with the law.
