‘Take responsibility for insecurity’ — Bishop blasts Nigerian leaders

The Anglican Bishop of Lafia Diocese, Rt. Rev. Godwin Robinson, has called on Nigerian leaders to stop blaming others for the country’s problems and take responsibility for solving them.

He said during a church programme in Lafia that excuses and regional blame will not fix Nigeria’s growing security and economic challenges.

According to him, leaders must act quickly and decisively to restore public trust.

The bishop specifically urged President Bola Tinubu to work with all groups in the country to tackle insecurity and bring peace as soon as possible.

He used the biblical story of David to explain his message, saying leaders should focus on finding solutions instead of shifting blame even in difficult situations.

He also pointed out the difference between what government officials say in Abuja and the reality faced by people in rural areas, where many suffer poverty and live in fear due to attacks by bandits and insurgents.

To address these problems, he called for honest national dialogue that is not influenced by politics.

He said such discussions should focus on improving the economy, promoting unity, and ensuring peaceful coexistence.

The bishop concluded that only responsible leadership, teamwork, and genuine care for citizens can rebuild trust and lead Nigeria toward lasting peace and development.
