“Step Down For Who?” — Amaechi Denies Storming Out Of David Mark’s Residence

Former Rivers State Governor and presidential aspirant, Rotimi Amaechi, has dismissed claims that he angrily stormed out of the residence of former Senate President David Mark during a recent political meeting.

Amaechi reacted to the viral video while speaking during an interview, insisting that the narration attached to the clip was false and misleading.

According to him, there was no disagreement between him and David Mark, neither was he asked to step down for another presidential aspirant.

The former minister said the meeting was cordial and ended normally, adding that David Mark personally walked him to the door before he departed.“I didn’t storm out anywhere.

The chairman of the party did not speak to me to step down for anybody. Nothing like that happened. It was a normal visit and normal conversation,” Amaechi stated.

He also addressed public reactions to his facial expression in the trending video, saying many people wrongly interpreted his brisk walk and serious appearance as anger.

Amaechi explained that he regularly engages in long-distance brisk walking as part of his exercise routine, noting that his movement outside the residence was completely ordinary.

“I walk 23 kilometres a day, five times a week. That is how I walk. People expected me to come out smiling to myself because of politics,” he said.

Responding to comments allegedly made by media personality Dele Momodu, Amaechi said he listened to the criticism but maintained that the story circulating online was inaccurate.

He stressed that no discussion about stepping down for another aspirant ever came up during the meeting.

“Step down for who? That had not even come up. Never,” Amaechi added. The former governor also spoke on his growing political consultations within the party, saying critics once accused him of lacking popularity because he preferred quiet engagements over media appearances.

According to him, his recent public engagements and interviews are simply a response to those criticisms.

“They said I wasn’t popular because I kept quiet and focused on meeting party members privately. Now that I’m speaking out, they say it’s too much noise,” he said.

Amaechi further expressed confidence in his political ambition, saying the level of work being done by his supporters gives him hope of a stronger outcome in future party contests.
