Sonko: Africa Wins Regardless of Senegal-France World Cup Outcome

Senegalese Prime Minister and parliamentary leader Ousmane Sonko has said Africa will emerge victorious regardless of the result of Tuesday’s FIFA World Cup showdown between Senegal and France, citing the significant number of players of African heritage in the French national team.

Speaking during an interview with France 24 and RFI ahead of the highly anticipated Group I encounter, Sonko argued that the match represents more than just a sporting contest, highlighting Africa’s enduring contribution to global football and human talent development.

According to him, while football fans will be focused on the outcome on the pitch, the broader reality is that both teams reflect Africa’s influence in different ways.

‘Africa Will Beat Africa’

“In any case, it’s only a football match. But if you want to look at the match politically, then whoever wins, Africa will have beaten Africa,” he said.
