Notorious Katsina bandit leader Audu Lankai has opened up about his past involvement in cattle rustling, revealing that memories of the crimes he committed years ago continue to trouble him deeply and often bring him to tears. Speaking during an interview with News Central TV, Lankai expressed remorse over his actions, saying that he frequently seeks God’s forgiveness whenever he reflects on the suffering caused by cattle theft and other criminal activities. According to him, the guilt associated with those actions has remained with him despite the passage of time.

Recounting his personal journey, Lankai linked the rise of banditry in parts of Northwest Nigeria to violent clashes between vigilante groups and local communities, which he claimed left many young men seeking revenge after losing family members.
