Report: Iran condemns US strikes on tankers and Qeshm Island, warns Gulf neighbors

According to Aljazeera News, Iran’s Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned US attacks on an Iranian oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz and a telecommunications tower on Qeshm Island, warning that Kuwait and Bahrain share “direct and clear responsibility for the strikes.

In a statement released early Wednesday, the ministry said the US military targeted the civilian vessel during a routine transit, while simultaneously hitting a critical communications tower on the strategic island. Tehran accused Washington of violating maritime navigation rights and sabotaging civilian infrastructure.

The statement did not report casualties but warned that Iran reserves the right to respond. It specifically named Kuwait and Bahrain, which host US military bases, as complicit in the aggression.

The condemnation escalates tensions in the waterway, through which one-fifth of global oil passes. Regional diplomats have called for urgent de-escalation, but Tehran has so far rejected any direct talks with Washington following the strikes.

Al Jazeera’s correspondent in Tehran reported that Iranian officials are consulting with military commanders on a potential response, though no timeline has been given. The US has not yet formally commented on the latest Iranian allegations.
