Reckless users of the social media won’t go scot-free
Presidential media aide, Bayo Onanuga has warned that individuals who use social media to spread panic and disinformation will face consequences.
He gave this warning via his X handle while announcing the arrest of a man accused of triggering a massive security scare in Abuja.
The suspect had allegedly raised a false alarm about an impending security breach in the capital city, which sparked widespread fear among citizens and disrupted academic activities in neighboring areas. The Presidency reiterated that while free speech remains protected, acts that endanger public trust and national security will be strictly handled by law enforcement.
