Police Confirm Terrorist Attack In Kebbi Community

The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed a terrorist attack on Tsamiya town, which left property destroyed and one resident abducted.

The attack reportedly occurred late Saturday when armed assailants stormed the community, fired shots and set several structures ablaze.

The affected structures included a makeshift checkpoint belonging to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), a local brothel and the house of a resident identified as Sule Mai Goge.

The attackers also abducted one Alhaji Yusuf Bazamfare during the incident.

Confirming the incident in a statement issued early Sunday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said the Commissioner of Police had ordered the deployment of additional security personnel to the area.

Usman said, “The Kebbi State Police Command has deployed tactical personnel to Tsamiya Town following an attack by suspected terrorists in the late hours of 20th June 2026.

“Upon receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police immediately directed the deployment of additional security forces to secure lives and property.”

The police spokesman said a full-scale investigation had commenced, while efforts were ongoing to rescue the abducted resident and arrest the attackers.

“A comprehensive investigation into the incident has since commenced, and efforts to rescue the kidnapped victim and track the perpetrators are ongoing,” Usman said.

The command assured residents that security operations would continue until normalcy was fully restored.

“The Command assures residents of Tsamiya and environs that security operations will continue until normalcy is fully restored,” the statement added.

Police urged residents to remain calm, vigilant and assist security agencies with credible information.
