The police have confirmed the recovery of nine bodies along the Wawa-Lumma Road in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
The spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the recovery in an interview on Wednesday.
He said a team of police and military operatives was dispatched to the area to evacuate the bodies after receiving information about the incident on Tuesday.
The victims were suspected to have been killed by bandits while travelling along the road.
Abiodun added that clearance operations had been intensified to secure the area and prevent further security threats.
“Police and military tactical teams were mobilised to the scene; the bodies recovered, while clearance operation was intensified to secure the area,” he said. (NAN)
