Plane Horror: Spider-Man star, top Hollywood actors cheat death

Hollywood actors Andrew Garfield and Nick Robinson were among passengers on a flight that was forced to make an emergency landing in Albuquerque, New Mexico, while travelling to New York City.

The Delta flight, which departed from Los Angeles for New York on Wednesday, September 9, was diverted after reports of a smoky odour inside the aircraft.

A Delta spokesperson confirmed that Flight 958 landed safely in Albuquerque after the diversion.

“We apologise to our customers on Delta Flight 958 (LAX to JFK) on Sept. 9, which diverted to Albuquerque due to a smoky odour in the aircraft,” the airline said in a statement.

“The aircraft landed uneventfully and our teams worked to re-accommodate customers as quickly as possible to their final destinations.”

Garfield, best known for playing Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man films, was travelling alongside actor Nick Robinson and other public figures, including Adults star Owen Thiele, Love Island USA’s Dylan Wrona and singer Mark Ambor.

Thiele documented the unusual experience on Instagram, sharing updates as passengers waited for another flight.

“We just had an emergency landing in Albuquerque. Any recs?” he wrote alongside a photo from the scene.

He later shared a selfie with Garfield, writing: “Andrew Garfield on my flight. If plane went down it would’ve said Andrew Garfield and others. Nick Robinson here too.”

Instead of a tense wait, Thiele turned the unexpected stop into a memorable experience, revealing that he and other passengers bonded during the delay. The group reportedly spent time at Dave & Buster’s before returning to the airport, where they later ordered food while waiting for their replacement flight.

Thiele also joked about the experience after receiving a fortune cookie message that read, “a thrilling new experience is at your fingertips.”

The actors eventually continued their journey to New York after the airline arranged another flight.
