Panic As Fire Razes Building In Ketu, Lagos

 

A fire outbreak on Friday razed a building along Biola Street in the Alapere area of Ketu, Lagos State, causing panic among residents, traders and business owners in the densely populated neighbourhood.

The incident, which occurred during the day, sent thick columns of black smoke billowing into the sky, drawing the attention of passersby and residents who gathered around the scene as emergency responders worked to bring the situation under control.

Eyewitnesses said the fire spread rapidly through the affected building, raising fears that the flames could extend to nearby residential and commercial properties. The development prompted many occupants of adjoining buildings to evacuate while others attempted to salvage valuables before firefighters arrived.

Officials of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service responded swiftly after receiving a distress call and immediately deployed personnel and firefighting equipment to the scene. Firefighters battled the blaze for several minutes, working to contain the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to surrounding structures.

Residents commended the emergency responders for their prompt intervention, noting that their timely arrival helped avert what could have turned into a larger disaster in the busy community.
