Our Priority Is Now To Reunite Them With Their Families— Gov. Makinde Reacts To Rescue Of Oyo Pupils, Teachers

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has expressed gratitude over the safe rescue of the pupils and teachers abducted from Oriire Local Government Area, saying the immediate priority is to reunite the victims with their families and provide them with the care needed to recover from their ordeal.

The governor made the remarks in a post on his official social media handle on Friday, following the successful security operation that secured the release of the victims after 56 days in captivity.

Makinde said the state government would focus on supporting the rehabilitation of the rescued children and teachers to help them overcome the psychological impact of the abduction.

“Really grateful for the safe return of the children and teachers abducted from Oriire LGA 56 days ago. Our priority now is to ensure they are reunited with their families and support their rehabilitation after this traumatic experience.”

The governor also paid tribute to the security personnel who participated in the rescue operation, commending their courage and sacrifices in bringing the victims home safely.

He offered condolences to the families of security operatives and others who lost their lives during the operation.

“We also commend the security agencies that took part in the rescue operations for their sacrifices. May the souls of those who paid the ultimate price rest in peace and may God comfort their families.”

Earlier, President Bola Tinubu praised the military, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force for carrying out the intelligence-led operation that led to the victims’ release, the arrest of eight suspected kidnappers and the neutralisation of other members of the criminal gang.
