In a recent interview on KaaTruths, on Saturday, June 20, 2026, Kennedy Ahanotu, National Youth Leader of the Labour Party and presidential candidate of the Abure-led faction, reflected on the 2023 presidential primary process and the emergence of Peter Obi as the party’s flagbearer.
Ahanotu argued that the Labour Party had several potential aspirants before Obi joined the party, insisting that the decision-making process involved multiple considerations, including timing, visibility, and political strategy.
Speaking during the interview, Ahanotu stated, “Obi was the last person to approach the LP in 2023; we had five aspirants who could have done better.”
