NULGE Akwa Ibom Commends Governor Umo Eno, ALGON, Others for Payment of Outstanding Local Government Workers’ Arrears

The Akwa Ibom State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has expressed profound appreciation to His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno for the successful payment of outstanding arrears owed to local government workers, describing the gesture as a significant demonstration of his administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare.

In a statement signed by the State President of NULGE, Comrade Anestina Iweh, the union also extended gratitude to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Rt. Hon. Frank Archibong, the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Akwa Ibom State and Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, Dr Uwemedimo Udo, as well as all the 31 local government chairmen for their collective efforts in ensuring the settlement of the outstanding obligations inherited from previous administrations.

The union noted that the payment has brought immense relief to local government employees across the state, restored confidence in government, and renewed the morale of workers who had patiently awaited the settlement of the arrears.

According to the statement, the intervention reflects the administration’s understanding of the challenges faced by local government workers and its commitment to improving their welfare and productivity.

NULGE further stated that the successful payment reinforces the local government workforce’s confidence in the leadership of Governor Umo Eno and other critical stakeholders who worked tirelessly to make the exercise a reality.

The union pledged the continued loyalty, dedication and support of local government workers to the implementation of the ARISE Agenda, while assuring the government of their commitment to efficient service delivery at the grassroots.

This latest clearance of outstanding obligations is seen as another milestone in efforts to stabilise the local government system and improve service delivery at the grassroots level. Local government workers, who form a critical backbone of public service in the state, have reportedly expressed renewed confidence in the current leadership.
