Northern Group Blasts Defence Ministers Over Normalization of Bloody Carnage, Terror Across 19 States

In an explosive world press conference held in Abuja, NCMN National Chairman Mallam Jabir Ibrahim Yaro declared that the escalating waves of banditry, terrorism, and mass abductions have reached a boiling point that threatens the very foundation of the republic.

The group took aim at recent controversial remarks credited to high-ranking officials in the defence ministry. The NCMN explicitly rejected statements attributed to the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, which reportedly linked the country’s worsening security crisis to the ongoing war between Iran and Israel.

Similarly, the group knocked the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, for suggestions that “only God can solve” the nation’s security challenges.

“While we acknowledge Almighty God as the ultimate source of protection and guidance, we respectfully submit that those entrusted with public office also have constitutional responsibilities that cannot be delegated,” Yaro declared. “The Iran-Israel war should not be used as an excuse by the defence sector.”

Six Months of Bloodshed and Terror

Painting a grim picture of a nation under siege, the NCMN revealed that between January and June 2026, terminal violent crimes have ravaged virtually all geopolitical zones.

Bandits and terrorists have turned vast swathes of the North-West, North-East, and North-Central into killing fields, with states like Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kaduna, Niger, Benue, and Plateau bearing the brunt of the onslaught. The terror has also spread southward into states like Oyo.

The NCMN raised particular alarm over the catastrophic situation in the North-West. Armed bandits continue to sack villages, abduct school children, hijack travelers, and impose illegal taxes on rural communities. This blockade has left farmers completely unable to access their lands, a development the group warns is actively triggering a severe food security crisis and deepening poverty.

Compounding the crisis is a terrifying resurgence of Boko Haram and ISWAP, alongside the violent expansion of the new, ruthless ideological terrorist sect known as Lakurawa, which is rapidly expanding its footprint across the North-West and North-Central regions.

Mourning the Fallen Heroes

The movement expressed deep patriotism and heartbreak over the staggering number of military commanders and troops who have paid the supreme price in the line of duty.

The group paid emotional tribute to a long list of fallen senior officers who dedicated decades of their lives to defending Nigeria, including:

The NCMN noted that targeted attacks on military formations, the loss of operational camp commanders, and the sophisticated use of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) by terrorists represent a painful drain on the institutional leadership and operational knowledge of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

“We Refuse to Normalize Mass Slaughter”

Issuing a stern warning to the Federal Government, the NCMN stated that it refuses to accept the growing public perception that mass killings and insecurity are the new normal in Nigeria.

“No nation can develop when its citizens live in perpetual fear,” Yaro warned. “No economy can thrive when farmers cannot cultivate their lands, traders cannot move freely, and investors lack the confidence to bring in resources.”

The group called for immediate, unyielding tactical action from the military command structure, demanding that the government stop offering rhetorical explanations and start delivering the total defeat of criminal elements holding the nation hostage.
