Nollywood actress Lilian Esoro loses father

Nollywood actress and entrepreneur Lilian Esoro has announced the death of her father, revealing that his passing has left her grappling with a profound sense of grief.

Esoro shared the sad news on social media on Sunday, describing her late father as an integral part of her life and the person who led her to Christ.

According to the actress, her father died suddenly a few weeks after she had already been dealing with the loss of a close friend.

She wrote: “A few weeks ago, just as I was gearing up to take a breather from the rude shock of the passing of my dear friend, my life took another unexpected turn.

“A man who was an integral part of my life—the man who led me to Christ, my only living parent, My Dad—passed away suddenly.”

Reflecting on the impact of his death, Esoro said she was once again confronted by the painful reality of losing someone close to her.

“Once again, I was stopped in my tracks by the cold, wild wind of grief,” she wrote.

The actress admitted that she had attempted to cope with the loss by keeping herself occupied with social activities, work and event planning.

She, however, acknowledged that staying busy had not been enough to take away the pain.

“Since his passing, I have tried to bury myself in social activities, working and planning events to keep my mind and soul busy. But the truth is, nothing feels quite the same,” Esoro said.

Describing the experience as a different kind of grief, the actress said the pain had been difficult to put into words, with her emotions fluctuating from moments of happiness to sudden waves of sadness.

“This kind of grief is different. It is heart-wrenching and almost impossible to explain. Some days, I am genuinely happy. Other days, a wave of sadness hits me so suddenly and so deeply that I almost don’t know what to do with it or how to react,” she wrote.

Despite the pain, Esoro said she remained anchored in her faith, expressing confidence in God amid the difficult period.

“Through it all, I’ll say…. it is well with my soul. God is still God! With him there is no controversy,” she stated.

The actress also expressed appreciation to her family, friends and loved ones for standing by her with prayers, love and encouragement since her father’s death.

“Thank you my amazing family and friends for your love, prayers and upliftment during this time,” she wrote.

Esoro’s announcement has drawn sympathy from fans, colleagues and well-wishers, who have continued to offer their condolences and prayers to the actress and her family as they mourn their loss.
