“No be me go volunteer for single motherhood” — Lady speaks on handling cheating husband

A woman has stirred reactions online after sharing her views on infidelity in marriage, stating that she would not leave her home or retaliate if her husband cheated on her.

The lady, whose statement circulated on social media on Friday, said many people online often speak emotionally about divorce and revenge cheating without considering the long-term effect on children and family stability.

According to her, rather than ending the marriage immediately, she would choose to maintain peace in the home while focusing on raising the children together with her husband.

Marriage stance sparks debate

If my husband cheats and thinks I’ll cheat back so he can divorce me, he’ll fail woefully. I’ll still cook for him, pamper him and make the home peaceful because I’m not ready to destroy my family over temporary issues,” she said.

No be me go volunteer for single motherhood. We are training the children together with love and unity. It’s about the children, my dignity and understanding that reality is very different from what people say online,” she added.

Her opinion has since generated mixed reactions online, with some social media users praising her for prioritising family stability, while others argued that remaining in an unfaithful marriage could encourage repeated infidelity.

Discussions around marriage, cheating and divorce have repeatedly trended in Nigeria in recent years, especially after several public figures opened up about infidelity, failed marriages and the pressure of single parenting on social media platforms.
