NAWOJ Bayelsa Advocates Greater Support for Boy Child Development

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Bayelsa State chapter, has called on parents, guardians, schools, and communities to invest more in the upbringing and development of boys to help them become responsible and productive members of society.

In a statement signed by the chapter Chairperson, Mrs. Grace Orumieyefa, and Secretary, Mrs. Eyal Ikisikpo-Banabo, the association said the International Day of the Boy Child offers an opportunity to address challenges affecting boys and promote their emotional, educational, and social development.

NAWOJ stressed the importance of protecting children’s rights, encouraging boys’ education, and providing mentorship and positive values.“This year’s theme, ‘Flourish and Thrive: Investing in Boys for Stronger Families and Communities,’ underscores the importance of listening to boys’ voices and empowering their dreams,” the statement said.

The association urged stakeholders to engage in meaningful discussions on issues affecting boys, including mental health, leadership development, and access to positive role models.

NAWOJ Bayelsa also encouraged organisations and community leaders to create supportive environments that would enable boys to grow into responsible adults capable of contributing positively to society.
