A Nigerian man has been left devastated after discovering that his wife had been concealing a series of significant financial manoeuvres against him throughout their marriage, including being the secret landlord of the apartment they shared for over eight years and posing as a buyer to acquire both his car and two plots of inherited land.

The man, who goes by the handle @jaach-light on X, shared his ordeal in a post that has since gone viral, detailing how his wife’s carefully maintained facade of loyalty and partnership masked what he now describes as a calculated and prolonged financial betrayal.

According to his account, he had no knowledge that his wife owned the apartment they rented together. Whenever rent was due, she remained calm and reassuring, giving no indication of her role as the property’s landlord.

When he subsequently lost his job and financial pressure mounted, his wife suggested he sell his vehicle and two plots of land he had inherited.

He agreed, trusting her completely. She offered to handle the transactions and even said she had a buyer already lined up. The buyer, he later discovered, was his wife herself.

The full extent of the deception only emerged when a letter arrived from her lawyer during a rent negotiation, requesting his eviction from the property. By the time he traced the trail of transactions, the car was gone, the land was gone, and his wife’s name was attached to all of it.

He has since confronted his wife and is now seeking public counsel on whether to end the marriage.
