Mamprusi Youth Clash With Police At Accra Circuit Court, Goes Toe To Toe With Them Over Alleged Deaths Of Three Men In Police Custody

Chaos has erupted at the Circuit Court in Accra after Mamprusi youth reportedly clashed with police following the alleged deaths of three individuals who were picked up in Bolgatanga and transported to Accra, only for their families to later be informed by police that all three had died.

The confrontation, captured in videos now circulating widely on social media, shows a tense standoff between an agitated crowd and police officers outside the court premises, with emotions running visibly high as demonstrators demanded answers, justice, and accountability for the deaths.

According to accounts of the incident, the three individuals were picked up by police in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region before being transported to Accra.

The circumstances surrounding their deaths while in police custody have not been officially explained, and the lack of transparent communication from authorities is said to have been a key trigger for the violent confrontation.

The news that all three men had died was communicated to their families by police, a disclosure that sparked immediate outrage among the Mamprusi community and prompted the angry descent on the Circuit Court where the matter was apparently being processed.

The Ghana Police Service had not issued an official statement on the matter at the time of filing this report. Investigations are expected to follow.
