'My Love, You Left Me Alone…': Footballer Héctor Bello's Wife Dies Trying To Shield Daughter During Killer Venezuela Earthquake

Venezuela: Back-to-back earthquakes in Venezuela have shaken the country, leaving several homes shattered and multiple people mourning the loss of their loved ones. Among the grieving families is footballer Héctor Bello and his 1-year-old daughter. Bello’s brave wife Andrea lost her life trying to shield their toddler after their building collapsed.

Bello, who is a defender for second division side Marítimo de La Guaira, is lamenting the loss of his beloved wife, whose body has been recovered from the rubbles.

However, Andrea’s sacrifice paid off because her baby, Alana, miraculously survived, having being shielded by her brave mother.

The miracle baby was discovered under the rubbles during search and rescue operations. She is presently at a hospital in Caracas and is “doing well”.

The footballer bared his soul on Instagram, writing a moving, deeply personal tribute addressed directly to his late wife.

“How do I explain to your daughter that you lost your life to save hers, and that I wasn’t there to do anything? How do I explain it? Give me strength now.”

In another heartbreaking post, he wrote, “You’ll always be our favorite hero, Mommy. I’m going to make sure our baby remembers how wonderful you were, how much you loved her. I’ll tell her the story of how you saved her, how you gave your own life for our daughter, how you were a brave woman who, even with your last breaths, never abandoned her, Mommy.”

The footballer further expressed that he could not forgive his wife for leaving him alone.

“But there’s one thing I can’t forgive you for…You left my soul shattered. You left me alone.”

He added, “We always said the fight was ours, Mommy. Do you remember when you sent me a picture and I said, “That little girl is beautiful,” and you said, “Me too, right?” and you laughed. I said, “Yes, you’re beautiful too, but not as beautiful as me,” hahaha.”

Remembering happy moments he shared with Andrea and their daughter, Bello wrote, “Do you remember when you sent me a picture and I said, “That little girl is beautiful,” and you said, “Me too, right?” and you laughed. I said, “Yes, you’re beautiful too, but not as beautiful as me,” hahaha. We’d laugh on the phone and the baby would always hang up when we put on filters and she’d get scared, hahaha. “You broke my heart.😭💔😭💔😭💔😭💔”

Concluding his heartbreaking note, Héctor Bello promised to always remember his wife, saying, “I will always remember you. Mommy, always, remember how I always told you that you would be my woman forever? 💔😭💔💔😭😭”

He also recalled her laugh and her blush, saying, “You would laugh all in love and your cheeks would turn red.”

“Oh Andrea…I can’t handle this, my love, I really can’t.💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔”

7.2 and 7.5-magnitude earthquakes struck northern Venezuela within seconds of each other on Wednesday. The quakes claimed the lives of nearly 1,000 individuals, leaving several injured and unaccounted for. On Friday, a 4.5-magnitute earthquake struck the country again.

18-year-old Venezuelan footballer Yimvert Berroteran is among the victims of the quake. The Universidad Central forward was found dead under rubble after being trapped following the June 24 tremors, the Venezuelan Football Federation confirmed.

Berroteran was regarded as one of Venezuela’s promising young footballers. He had represented the country at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup 2025 and had also recently been part of the national setup at the under-20 level.

His death has left the Venezuelan football community in mourning, with tributes pouring in from his club, teammates and fans. Universidad Central said the young forward would “always be remembered” as the country continues to deal with the devastation caused by the earthquakes.
