“My Family Thinks I’m Still Jobless” — Man Secretly Lands New Job After Alleged Years of Mistreatment

A Nigerian man has sparked widespread reactions on social media after revealing that he secretly secured a new job but deliberately kept the news from his family, who still believe he is unemployed.

The story was shared anonymously by Facebook user Auntie Momoza, who posted the man’s account on her page.

According to the man, he lost his job during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, after which the attitude of his family toward him changed drastically.

He claimed that despite previously supporting several relatives financially, they began looking down on him once he no longer had a stable source of income.

The man further alleged that his family even stopped his girlfriend from visiting because they believed she was eating food he could no longer afford to provide.

He revealed that he recently secured a new job at the beginning of the month but chose not to tell any of his relatives. Instead, he continued leaving the house every morning pretending he was still searching for employment.

According to him, the hurtful comments from family members have not stopped, with even some of his younger relatives allegedly showing him disrespect.

“The only person who sees me as a human being is my 9-year-old nephew,” he said, adding that his girlfriend also stood by him throughout his difficult period.

The man disclosed that he was due to receive his first salary the following day. Despite the way he said his family treated him, he planned to surprise them by buying two buckets of KFC.

“Today they ate KFC and as usual I had cabbage and pap. I’m going to buy them two buckets of KFC tomorrow because I’m not like them,” he wrote.

However, he revealed that the gesture would likely be his last act of generosity before leaving the family home.

He said he had already secured a room to rent and intended to move out the following month, adding that going forward, only his girlfriend and his young nephew would benefit from his earnings.

“The only people who’ll enjoy my money are my girlfriend and my nephew. May God bless them,” he concluded.

The emotional story has since generated mixed reactions online, with many sympathizing with the man and praising his decision to remain kind despite the alleged treatment he received from his family.
