Man Dies After Undergoing Tummy Tuck Surgery

A man identified as Christopher Rodríguez León has tragically died after undergoing cosmetic surgery in Cúcuta, Colombia.

According to reports, Rodríguez León died after having an abdominoplasty, commonly known as a tummy tuck. Colombian authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding his death, while the surgeon who performed the procedure is also under investigation.

His family is now facing an additional ordeal as they await the return of his body.

Reacting to the situation, the family’s lawyer, Juan Carlos Avilán, said the Colombian National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences confirmed that its headquarters in Cúcuta had experienced problems with the freezers used to store bodies.

According to Avilán, officials obtained a court order authorizing the burial of Rodríguez León and several other deceased individuals to prevent a potential public health crisis.

However, before Rodríguez León can be buried permanently, his family must wait for the official identification process to be completed. Once that process is finalized, his body is expected to be exhumed and repatriated to his family.
