JUST IN: “Votes Will Count” — Channels TV Reveals Plan for 2027 Election

Channels Television has declared that votes will count in the 2027 general elections, revealing that it has a major plan in place to prevent politicians from manipulating the process.

Popular anchor Seun Okinbaloye announced the development on Friday live on air.

Okinbaloye said that the media house is partnering with civic group YIAGA Africa and European Union Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria (EU-SDGN) officials to launch a new initiative called the Results Viewing and Monitoring system.

Speaking about the project ahead of the upcoming Ekiti State governorship election, Seun warned that the new tracking framework will catch corrupt politicians completely off guard.

He stated, “What we have swore to at Channels Television and we and our partners, by all means, in 2027 votes will count. In 2027, whether politicians like it or not, votes will count. We have a big plan they don’t know about, and it will catch them unaware. We will do something that will shock the world.”

It can be recalled that during the 2023 election, major concerns were raised over transparency and alleged manipulation. The highly contested poll saw opposition parties, voters, and observers question the process after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) failed to upload polling unit results to its public portal (IReV) in real time.

Although INEC blamed the delay on technical issues, the situation created doubts and affected public confidence in the process.

The election also faced criticism over allegations of voter suppression, result manipulation, and violence. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party called for a review of the election, while candidates Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi challenged the outcome in court. However, the Supreme Court later upheld President Bola Tinubu’s victory.
