Joyous moment as NYSC member uses his April allowance to pay tuition fees of 50 students
A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has stirred reactions online after using his April allowance to pay the tuition fees of 50 students under his care.
In a viral video shared on social media, the corps member was seen walking to school while revealing his decision to sacrifice his monthly allowance for the students. According to him, the beneficiaries were unaware of his plan.
“I decided to use all my April NYSC allowance for the payment of my students’ fees. All of them, they are 50 in number, but they don’t even know about it yet. So, let’s see how they react to it,” he said.
On arriving at the classroom, the corps member announced his decision before the visibly surprised students.
“I’ve made my final decision and I’ve decided that my April NYSC allowance will be for you. Therefore, I will pay your fees for this month. Thank you,” he told the class.
Gesture Sparks Emotional Reactions Online
The video has since attracted widespread praise from Nigerians, with many commending the corps member for his generosity and concern for education despite the country’s economic hardship.
Reacting to the clip, ACELIFE wrote, “There are good rewards that come with such gestures. It might not be immediate, but surely it attracts good rewards.”
Another user, RantWithSMB, commented, “God bless you, Corper. Thanks for supporting the children. May God never leave you alone in your worries too.”
BGNME questioned the cost of the fees, writing, “Is school fees now so cheap? I speak for a lot of people by asking how much the fee is per student?”
IgboChronicle also praised the act, saying, “While politicians waste billions on luxury and propaganda, a corps member used one month allowance to pay school fees for 50 students. That’s the kind of sacrifice and leadership that still gives people hope in this country. Respect.”
