Israeli Military Warns Civilians To Leave Southern Lebanon Ahead Of Strikes Targeting Hezbollah

According to a report by Al Jazeera on June 3, 2026, in preparation for expected attacks targeting areas associated to the Hezbollah armed group, the Israeli military ordered the evacuation of three towns in southern Lebanon.

Residents of Arzay, Mazraat Kauthariyet al-Rez, and Zrariyeh have been ordered to evacuate their homes and seek refuge north of the Zahrani River. This warning is in relation to them.

As part of its readiness for military action in the area, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) released the evacuation alert. Following what the Israeli government has characterised as Hezbollah’s frequent breaches of the ceasefire agreement, the operation was believed to be targeting Hezbollah.

Col. Avichay Adraee, a spokesman for the army, used the warning to address the locals and urge them to evacuate the affected areas without delay.

“The IDF is forced to act against Hezbollah with force due to its violations of the ceasefire agreement. Rest assured, we have no intention of harming you,” he stated.

Without further ado, the military emphasised that residents should evacuate the areas under question and not return there until further notice.

The warning is a reflection of the persistent tensions along the border between Israel and Lebanon, where ceasefire attempts have been unsuccessful and where there have been recurrent exchanges of fire and military operations.

Zrariyeh, Mazraat Kauthariyet al-Rez, and Arzay are in southern Lebanon, a region that has seen regular combat action related to the protracted war between Hezbollah and Israel.

Israeli authorities have just issued an evacuation order, raising concerns that the group’s associated infrastructure or facilities could be targeted in an impending attack.

Both sides are continuing to accuse one other of violating ceasefire understandings, which has led to heightened security worries in the region.
