Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps warns Strait of Hormuz is closing, citing Israel-Lebanon cease-fire breach

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps warned it was closing the Strait of Hormuz Saturday, even as Vice President JD Vance said there was no evidence that the vital waterway had been shutdown.

Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters cited breaches of a cease-fire between Israel and Iranian terror proxy Hezbollah in Lebanon for the sudden closure.

Israeli airstrikes against what it said were Hezbollah targets in Lebanon killed at least 16 people Saturday, just hours after a new truce went into effect, according to Lebanese Civil Defense.

Meanwhile, Vance told Fox News Saturday the strait was open.

“That’s now happened. We actually got 16 million barrels of oil out of the Strait of Hormuz yesterday, that is a record,” he said. “So you’re seeing those ships move.”

Vance also confirmed that US envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner were “on the ground” in Switzerland for technical talks as part of the next steps in the memorandum of understanding.
