INEC set to begin third phase of Voter Registration in Rivers
PORT HARCOURT – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Rivers has announced the commencement of the third phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in the state.
The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC),in Rivers, Mr Johnson Sinikiem, disclosed this in a statement, he issued to Journalists, in Port Harcourt, on Tuesday.
Sinikiem said that the exercise would begin on May 11 and run daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at all INEC offices across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.
He added that the exercise would also be extended to Registration Area (RA) and ward levels on a rotational basis to ensure wider coverage and accessibility.
According to him, the exercise, scheduled to end on July 10, is designed to enable eligible citizens who are yet to register, as well as those seeking to transfer or update their voter information, to do so.
The REC called for the support and cooperation of stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organisations, the media and the general public, to ensure a smooth and peaceful electoral process.
