During an interview that aired on Symfoni TV on Sunday, June 21, 2026, Afam Ogene, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency in Anambra State, reflected on the political events that transpired after Peter Obi left the PDP and became the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 election.

Ogene stated on the show that many long-time politicians and political watchers failed to anticipate the extent to which the public would rally around Obi following his departure from the PDP.
