Ibrahim Mbaya: Police arrest additional suspect in connection with gruesome k!lling of 25-year-old Jos model, hunt two others

The Plateau State Police Command has arrested one additional suspect in connection with the gruesome k!lling of a 25-year-old model, Ibrahim Mbaya.

The University of Jos graduate, popularly known as Ibee, d!ed on Sunday, July 26, 2026 after he was brutally assaulted by a mob, including friends, over allegation of phone theft. 

The suspect was paraded alongside three people who were initially arrested in connection with the incident.

Speaking while parading the suspects in Jos on Tuesday, July 28, the spokesperson for the command, SP Alfred Alabo, said the arrests followed intelligence received from a Good Samaritan who alerted the police that a young man had been rushed to hospital in critical condition after a brutal assault.

The PPRO said the victim later succumbed to injuries sustained during the attack.

Alabo added that they are intensifying efforts to apprehend two other suspects who remain at large.

“The Plateau State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that, sequel to out earlier press release on the arrest of three suspects in connection with the alleged killing of one Ibrahim Mbaya, a breakthrough has been recorded with the arrest of an additional suspect linked to the incident,” the statement read.

“Following sustained intelligence gathering and discreet investigation by operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), the Command has arrested one Tisloh Joshua for his involvement in the crime.

“The suspect is currently in Police custody while investigation is ongoing. Efforts have also been intensified to apprehend other suspects who are currently at large.

“The Plateau State Police Command, reiterates its unwavering commitment to ensuring that every individual connected with this unfortunate incident is identified, arrested, and prosecuted in accordance with the law. 

“He further assures the family of the deceased and the good people of Plateau State that justice will be diligently pursued.

“The Command once again condemns all forms of jungle justice and urges members of the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands. 

“Citizens are encouraged to promptly report suspected criminal activities to the Police or other relevant security agencies to enable lawful investigation and prosecution.

“The Plateau State Police Command appreciates members of the public for their continued cooperation and encourages residents to continue providing credible, timely, and actionable information that will assist the Police in maintaining peace, security, and public safety across the State.”
