Owobo Ogunde, the son of the legendary founder of Nigerian theatre, Hubert Ogunde, has spoken about his parents’ religious beliefs
According to a report by Nigerian Tribune on Friday, July 24, 2026, Ogunde said both of his parents were Christians when they died. He stated that his father was a traditionalist and grew up in the house of a Babalawo (Ifa priests). He said his father fully learned the beliefs and philosophy of the Babalawo but he later converted to Christianity
Ogunde stated that before his father died, he was a dedicated Crossbearer in the Grail Movement and regularly attended Grailland in Iju. He added that he also goes to Grailland and that, when he was younger, he attended the Cherubim and Seraphim Church.
