I Campaigned For You, Is This What Our Family Deserves?’ -El-Rufai’s Wife Sends Message To Tinubu

Hajiya Asiya El-Rufai has made an emotional appeal to President Bola Tinubu, asking him to ensure that her husband, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, receives fair treatment while facing his ongoing legal proceedings, according to Daily Trust.

Speaking alongside El-Rufai’s other wife, Aichatou, in Abuja, Asiya said she personally campaigned across Kaduna State to support Tinubu’s election and expressed disappointment over what she described as the family’s current experience.

She insisted that the family is not seeking special treatment or asking the President to halt the prosecution. Rather, she appealed for El-Rufai to have unrestricted access to his doctors, legal team and relatives, while also being considered for bail under reasonable conditions.

Asiya alleged that her husband’s health has become a major concern because he is living with high blood pressure and high blood sugar. She also questioned the circumstances surrounding the reported restriction placed on his personal physician, Prof. Bello Abubakar, after his arrest.

She said the uncertainty surrounding the case has caused emotional trauma for the family, adding that they constantly worry about his wellbeing. According to her, the restrictions imposed during his detention have also affected his ability to prepare adequately for his defence.

She concluded by urging that the judicial process be allowed to run its course fairly, insisting that the courts—not public opinion—should determine the outcome of the case after her husband has been given the constitutional rights available to every Nigerian……See More
