Alexx Ekubo’s sister-in-law has shared emotional details about her last interactions with him before his passing, as tributes continue to pour in from fans, friends, and colleagues.

It was earlier reported that the Nollywood actor died on Monday, May 11, 2026, following complications linked to advanced metastatic kidney cancer.

In a touching tribute shared on Instagram, Ify Ekubo disclosed that the actor had plans to travel to Houston and had promised to reach out to her before his birthday. She also reflected on his impact within the family, describing him as a mentor to her children and “their elder brother,” while adding, “It is well.”

Meanwhile, a Service of Songs was held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at The Monarch Event Centre in Lekki, Lagos, as part of arrangements leading up to his final burial.

The ceremony required attendees to wear white, symbolizing purity and a celebration of his life. Family members, friends, and prominent figures in the Nigerian entertainment industry were present to honour his memory.

During the emotional event, his close friend IK Ogbonna was seen in tears while paying tribute, expressing sorrow that Alexx would not be alive to witness the outpouring of love.

Actresses Nancy Isime and Yemi Alade also delivered heartfelt tributes, describing him as a warm, kind, and uplifting personality.

The Service of Songs marked the beginning of his final rites, which will conclude with his interment in Arochukwu, Abia State.
