Gov. Makinde Visits Ex-Power Minister Over Sister, Twin Nephews’ Abduction
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on Friday, paid a solidarity visit to the residence of the immediate past minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, in Ibadan.
The visit follows the Wednesday abduction of Adelabu’s younger sister and her 12-year-old twin sons.
A video from the visit circulating on social media on Friday showed the moment Makinde arrived and was led into the residence by Adelabu, the All Progressives Congress 2027 governorship aspirant in the state.
Sharing the video on X, a local media in the state, Oyo Affairs, wrote, “Governor Seyi Makinde Visits Chief Adebayo Adelabu Following Abduction of Sister and Twin Sons.”
In a statement shared on Wednesday, Adelabu’s media aide, Femi Awogboro, said the victim, 43-year-old Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, was on a routine school run when she was abducted alongside her sons, Peter and Paul.
The family noted that John-Paul had recently relocated to Ibadan with her children while finalising plans to join her husband in the United States of America before the incident occurred.
The Oyo State Police Command said it has launched an investigation into the abduction, noting that tactical teams and other resources have been deployed to secure the victims’ release and arrest the perpetrators.
