Gov Makinde Reveals Why Insecurity Is Increasing in Nigeria [VIDEO]

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has attributed the rising insecurity in the state to the lack of adequate arms for the state’s security outfit, the Amotekun Corps.

Makinde alleged that the regional security agency has not been sufficiently equipped to effectively carry out its duties.

The governor made the remarks while addressing protesters who took to the streets of Ibadan.

The protest, led by social media activist VeryDarkMan on Tuesday, called for the release of kidnapped schoolchildren and teachers following recent abductions in Oriire Local Government Area.

According to reports, the protest followed weeks of tension and suspicion in the community after over 40 students and teachers were abducted in the area.

Makinde said, “Security was one of the cardinal principles of this administration. That’s why we set up Amotekun. It has not been adequately armed. That is our reality now.

“But let me give you the assurance that we are going to win the war against insecurity in Oyo state and bring the abducted victims home.”
