Garo to be sworn in as Kano deputy governor on Tuesday

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf will officially swear in his new deputy, Hon Murtala Sule Garo, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

The ceremony, according to a statement by the governor’s Special Adviser on Information, Ibrahim Adam, on Facebook, will take place at 11:00 a.m. at the Coronation Hall inside the Government House in Kano.

He wrote: “His Excellency Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf will swear in his deputy, Hon. Murtala Sule Garo, on Tuesday, 5th May 2026, by 11 am at Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano.”

Senior government officials, party leaders, and other distinguished guests are expected to be present.

Garo’s appointment follows his confirmation by the Kano State House of Assembly.

Lawmakers approved him after he passed a detailed screening process and security checks carried out by a committee led by the Deputy Speaker, Muhammad Bello.

At 48 years old, Murtala Sule Garo is an experienced political administrator who has spent over 20 years serving in both elected and appointed positions.
