Galatasaray rule out Osimhen sale despite Spanish giants interest

Victor Osimhen’s future at Galatasaray appears increasingly certain after club president Dursun Özbek insisted the Turkish champions have no intention of selling the Nigerian striker despite growing interest from top European clubs.

The Super Eagles forward has been linked with a move away from Istanbul in recent months, with Spanish giants Barcelona and Atletico Madrid reportedly monitoring his situation ahead of the summer transfer window.

Galatasaray stand firm on striker’s future

Osimhen has become one of Galatasaray’s most influential players since joining the club permanently from Napoli last year following an initial loan spell.

The 27-year-old has enjoyed a remarkable spell in Turkey, scoring 59 goals in 74 appearances and helping the club win two Turkish Super Lig titles and one Turkish Cup.

His performances have attracted interest from several clubs across Europe, but Galatasaray have repeatedly maintained that the Nigerian international is not for sale.

Reports in Turkey claim Atletico Madrid recently saw a €120 million bid rejected by the club. Özbek has now strengthened that position by suggesting that even a significantly higher offer would not change Galatasaray’s stance.

“We didn’t buy Osimhen to sell. We have a football player who adds a lot of value to Galatasaray and loves Galatasaray very much,” Özbek said via Forza Cimbom.

“We want him to serve Galatasaray for many years. Osimhen is also very happy at Galatasaray.”

Barcelona and Atletico face setback

Galatasaray’s latest comments is a major blow to clubs hoping to secure Osimhen’s signature this summer.

Barcelona have been linked with the Nigerian as they continue planning for the future beyond veteran striker Robert Lewandowski, while Atletico Madrid are believed to be searching for additional firepower in attack.

Head coach Okan Buruk has also previously dismissed suggestions that Osimhen could leave.

Meanwhile, Osimhen remains focused on life in Istanbul, where he has quickly become a fan favourite.
