Fresh Video Shows Suspected Terrorists Arrested During Oyo Schoolchildren Rescue Operation

A fresh video circulating on social media has reportedly shown some of the suspected terrorists arrested during the security operation that led to the rescue of abducted schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Naijapunchnews reports that the footage, which surfaced online on Saturday, captures members of the tactical team deployed for the operation under the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) as they carried out parts of the rescue mission.

The operation, conducted on Friday, resulted in the safe rescue of the pupils and teachers who had spent more than 50 days in captivity after they were abducted from Oriire Local Government Area on May 15, 2026.

The video was shared on 𝕏 by Deji Adesogan and has since attracted widespread attention, with many Nigerians commending the efforts of the security agencies involved in the operation.

The footage appears to show security operatives escorting several individuals believed to be among the suspects arrested during the mission. However, the identities of those seen in the video have not been independently verified by Naijapunchnews.

Eight Suspects Arrested

The emergence of the video comes a day after the Presidency disclosed that eight suspected kidnappers were arrested during the operation, while several other members of the criminal group were neutralised.

The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced the development in a post shared on his 𝕏 handle on Friday.

According to Onanuga, the arrested suspects are currently being held by the Department of State Services (DSS) as investigations continue.

He also confirmed that the operation successfully secured the release of all the abducted teachers and pupils without yielding to the terrorists’ demands.

Tinubu Identifies Ansaru as Perpetrators

Following the successful rescue, President Tinubu disclosed that the Ansaru terrorist group was responsible for the abduction of the schoolchildren and teachers.

In a personally signed statement issued shortly after the Presidency confirmed the victims’ rescue, the President said Nigerians had every reason to celebrate the successful outcome of the operation.

Tinubu praised the military and other security agencies for what he described as their courage, professionalism, and discipline throughout the rescue mission.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to defeating terrorism and protecting lives and property across the country.

According to the President, the Federal Government would continue to pursue criminal groups relentlessly until peace and security are fully restored.

He also maintained that Nigeria would not surrender to terrorism, stressing that no concessions would be made to those seeking to spread fear through violent attacks.

The rescue operation has been widely hailed as one of the country’s most significant security successes in recent months, with authorities indicating that investigations and follow-up operations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of the terrorist network.
