Fresh relief for consumers as Dangote lowers petrol price

The organisers of the Headies Awards have announced that the 18th edition of the prestigious music awards will take place in Toronto, Canada.

The announcement was made at a special event titled “The Big Announcement,” held at Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos. The event brought together key players in the entertainment industry, including music executives, artists, government representatives, and other stakeholders who gathered to hear plans for the upcoming edition.

The founder of the Headies, Ayo Animashaun, confirmed that the main ceremony will be hosted in Toronto. He explained that this move is part of the award show’s ongoing effort to expand its global reach and increase international recognition for African music and artists.

However, he also assured that Nigerian audiences will not be left out of the experience. According to him, organisers are planning a watch party in Nigeria, as well as a special joint broadcast that will connect audiences in Toronto and Lagos during the event. This is expected to allow fans in both countries to participate in the celebration simultaneously.

Animashaun addressed concerns raised about the decision to host the awards outside Nigeria again. He said the Headies cannot grow without strong financial backing and sponsorship, adding that funding is a major factor in deciding where the event is held. He questioned whether it would be better to stop hosting the awards entirely if adequate support is not available.

He emphasized that sponsorship remains essential for sustaining the production quality and international expansion of the awards. According to him, partnerships and funding opportunities are what make it possible to continue improving the Headies brand on a global scale.

The organisers have not yet announced the official date for the 18th edition of the Headies Awards, but further details are expected to be released in the coming months.
