Father Sends Teenage Son Back To Nigeria After He Insulted His Mother

A woman has sparked widespread discussion on social media after recounting the story of a father who allegedly sent his teenage son back to Nigeria after the boy repeatedly disrespected his mother while the family was living in the United Kingdom.

According to the narrator, the family had relocated from Nigeria to the UK in search of better opportunities. At the time of the move, the couple’s son was about 14 years old.

She claimed that everything appeared normal during the family’s early years abroad, but the situation reportedly changed about five years later when the teenager began displaying disrespectful behaviour towards his mother.

The woman alleged that the boy frequently talked back to his mother, ignored her instructions, and became increasingly confrontational whenever she attempted to discipline him.

According to her, the situation reached a breaking point during one disagreement when the teenager allegedly shouted at his mother and addressed her by her full name instead of calling her “Mum” or using other respectful forms of address.

She quoted the teenager as saying:

“Rita Okoji, you’re a bad mom.”

Father Allegedly Took Unexpected Action

The narrator said the father did not immediately react to the incident. Instead, he reportedly advised his wife to avoid arguing with their son, giving the impression that he had chosen not to get involved.

However, she claimed the father had already decided on how to handle the matter.

According to the story, about three weeks after the incident, the father asked his son to accompany him to the airport without revealing his intentions.

When they arrived, the teenager was allegedly handed over to the father’s brother, who had travelled to receive him before taking him back to Nigeria.

The woman claimed the father informed his son that he would remain in Nigeria to continue his education.

She quoted the father as saying:

“You can’t disrespect my wife and get away with it.”

Teenager Allegedly Continued Education in Nigeria

According to the narrator, the father decided that his son would complete his university education in Nigeria before being allowed to return to the United Kingdom.

She further claimed that the young man is now a 300-level student at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).

The woman suggested that the decision was intended to teach the teenager the importance of discipline, respect for parents, and accountability for his actions.

Story Triggers Debate on Parenting

The account has generated mixed reactions across social media, with users expressing differing opinions on the father’s reported decision.

Some commenters praised the father, arguing that his action sent a strong message about the importance of respecting one’s parents regardless of where a family lives.

Others believed the decision demonstrated the need for parents to establish clear boundaries and consequences for unacceptable behaviour.

However, some social media users questioned whether sending the teenager to another country was the most appropriate disciplinary measure.

They argued that family counselling, improved communication, or other parenting approaches might have been more effective in addressing the behavioural issues.
