Ex-Presidential Candidate Challenges Kenneth Okonkwo to Present Allegations Against Peter Obi in Court

Former presidential candidate of the National Interest Party (NIP), Eunice Atuejide, has called on African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo to publicly present any evidence he claims to have against the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, before a court of law.

Atuejide made the challenge during an appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme on Thursday, insisting that any allegations against the former Anambra State governor should be subjected to legal scrutiny rather than remaining in the realm of public speculation.

The former presidential aspirant, who remains an outspoken supporter of Obi, stated that transparency and accountability are essential qualities for anyone seeking public office. According to her, Nigerians deserve to know the truth about those aspiring to lead the country, regardless of political affiliation.

She urged Okonkwo not to withhold any information that could potentially implicate Obi, stressing that the courts provide the appropriate platform for determining the credibility of such claims.

“I challenge Kenneth Okonkwo to disclose in court everything he has against Peter Obi that incriminates him,” Atuejide said.

She explained that her support for Obi is based on her belief that he represents a departure from the style of politics Nigerians have become accustomed to over the years. However, she maintained that her support does not exempt him from public examination.

According to Atuejide, she would rather have all allegations thoroughly investigated than continue supporting a political figure whose record remains clouded by unresolved accusations.

“I want that scrutiny for my children’s sake. I am following Peter Obi with all my heart, and I do not want to support a man who may have criminal records or whose background cannot be properly examined,” she stated.

The NIP founder said the issue goes beyond politics, noting that her children and many young Nigerians are observing the choices made by adults in the political arena. She argued that future generations deserve leaders whose integrity can withstand public and legal scrutiny.

“One reason I am passionate about this is because my children are watching. They are pleased that I support someone they see as different from many politicians we have known. Therefore, I want every allegation against him brought into the open so that the facts can be established,” she added.

Atuejide further disclosed that she had personally informed Obi of her position and encouraged him to pursue the matter through legal channels if necessary.

According to her, a court process would provide an opportunity for anyone claiming to possess damaging information against the former governor to present it under oath and allow the judicial system to determine its validity.

“I have told my leader that I will insist that this matter continues in court. Anyone who says they have evidence against him should come forward and present it. Nigerians deserve to know the truth,” she said.

Her comments come amid ongoing political debates and exchanges involving key figures ahead of preparations for the 2027 general election, as political parties continue to position themselves for the next electoral cycle.

Atuejide maintained that transparency, accountability, and openness to scrutiny remain essential requirements for anyone seeking the trust and mandate of the Nigerian people.
